CHICEBERG Data Management Scheme
One of the basic aims in the development of the European Cultural heritage Identity Card project (EU-CHIC) is to contirbute to a unified approach to collecting and organizing data on cultural heritage asset in order to use this in process of effective decision-making relative to its preservation.
The EU-CHIC consortium devised and elaborated the concept of the CHICBERG Protocol for the integrated documentation of the tangible cultural heritage (see CHICEBERG GUIDELINES and related Perpetute project classification of historic buildings). CHICBERG is sub-divided into three levels of data: general data; pool of knowledge; and decision support data. Each level is structured according to its purpose and need (see CHICEBERG SCHEME).
Data in the first level offers the identification of the asset and provides general information. This is covered by Core Data Index and Core Data Standard and is merged with the EU-CHIC amended data on the structure of the asset, its constituent materials, and on any major risks that it might be exposed to during its lifetime.
Chiceberg Guidelines and Chiceberg scheme, originally written in English, are being translated into the following languages:
- Slovenian and
In order to test the guidelines and protocol concept, each EU-CHIC consortium partner has prepared at least two case studies on the bases of pre-defined CHICEBERG level 1 template (see case studies from Belgium 1 and 2, Croatia, Czech Republic 1 and 2, Greece 1 and 2, Italy 1, Poland 1 and 2, Slovenia 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 and Spain 1 and 2).
The EU-CHIC consortium would like to widely disseminatie the methodology. We, therefore, kindly ask all experts and professionals involved in the preservation of cultural heritage to test the guidelines through the CHICEBERG level 1 template, and thus contribute to the further development and implementation of the methodology. We also warmly welcome all comments and suggestions on the proposed methodology.
Please, send these and relevant case studies to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We also invite participants to follow our web pages where we will continue to publish all the submitted case studies online.
Thank you in anticipation for your valuable contributions!
